A Comprehensive Overview of ST Series Machinery
ST offers five primary series of extrusion blow molding (EBM) machines, each meticulously optimized for specific applications and production requirements:
AX Series: Accumulator Head Machines for Large Container Production
New Generation: All-Electric
The AX Series is the most advanced generation of machines featuring an Accumulator Head, exceeding the highest energy efficiency standards under Euromap 46.1.
All-Electric Machinery: Significantly enhances the extraordinary efficiency of machines equipped with adiabatic (seamless) extruders. A small servo motor provides a clamping force of up to 2000 kN through a toggle mechanism.
- Electronic adjustment of clamping force in every cycle to guarantee maximum repeatability.
- Adjustable for various mold thicknesses without concerns regarding stack height.
ER Feature: Enables quick and easy replacement of the head mold.
- Revolutionary Automatic Head Tooling Change (AHC) system: Eliminates any human intervention.
- Production changeovers have never been this fast, effortless, and safe.
ISIT Series: Accumulator Head Machines – Double Tie-Bar Models
Unique Design for Uniform Clamping Force Distribution
The ISIT Series is distinguished by its single-cylinder clamping unit and a robust double tie-bar frame, engineered for stability and precision.
- Independent Flexing Components: By isolating flexing components from the platens, we guarantee perfect parallelism and alignment of the two mold halves under all operating conditions.
- Top-Loading Mold Change: The upper platform, housing the extrusion head, retracts to clear the space above the clamping unit. Precise return to position is managed through stored coordinates within each mold’s specific recipe.
- Magnetic Clamping Plates (Optional): Further reduces mold changeover time, complemented by quick-connect circuit fittings.
- Electric Bottom-Blow Unit: Features electrically adjustable height and the ability to retract to a "rest" position for maximum flexibility.
- Energy Class 10 Rating: Achieves consumption levels below 0.29 kWh/kg (HDPE) according to Euromap 46.1, thanks to high-melt-efficiency adiabatic extruders and variable-speed hydraulic pumps.
EC Series: Continuous Extrusion Machines
The Natural Choice for High Melt Strength Multilayer Parts
The EC Series is specifically engineered for applications requiring continuous and high-precision production of multilayer components, particularly plastic fuel tanks.
- Two Specialized Versions:
- ECT: The parison is mechanically transferred from the head into the mold.
- ECS: A shuttle-based system where the clamping unit moves toward the head to capture the parison.
- High production rates and unrivaled precision in both versions.
- Clamping unit with a single cylinder and double tie-bar frame similar to the ISIT series, with all its advantages (perfect alignment and parallelism of the molds).
- Top-loading mold change with the backward movement of the extrusion head platform.
- Partnership with W. Müller GmbH (the global leader) to provide the most advanced multilayer co-extrusion technologies for producing liquid fuel tanks for cars, motorcycles, boats, etc.
- PWDS®/SFDR devices for radial control of parison thickness.
- Energy Class 10 rating (less than 0.29 kWh/kg HDPE).
ASPI Series: Parison Suction Machines
The global leader in parison suction technology.
The ASPI Series is the result of 15 years of relentless research and development in collaboration with the most demanding automotive industry customers. In this field, ST remains unrivaled worldwide, not only in the number of machines delivered but also in technological leadership.
- Primary Application: Production of 3D under-the-hood ducts, especially for turbocharger air intake systems, using engineering polymers.
- Exclusive 4WDS Device: Asymmetrical radial control of parison thickness with exceptional speed and precision to guarantee wall thickness accuracy and quality consistency.
- ASPI SeCo Version (Sequential Co-extrusion): Production of a parison with two different plastic materials that are substituted sequentially to obtain a part with different mechanical properties along its axis. Ideal for reducing the number of assembly parts and costs.
- ASPI DUO Version: Featuring a mobile extrusion platform that shuttles over two clamping units, dropping the parison alternately into both molds. This solution doubles the production of 3D pipes while ensuring ease of use and process stability.
- Advanced Auxiliary Technologies:
- D-Print: A next-generation parison marker with precision and speed 100 times higher than previous standards.
- W-Print: Direct data writing on the parison and reading it on the final part.
- Parison Swell Detector: An optical sensor for monitoring parison diameter.
The name ASPI is now synonymous with parison suction technology worldwide.
TA Series: Machines with High Clamping Force
Renowned, classic machines that have proven themselves time and again, offering exceptionally high clamping force.
The TA Series has been a hallmark of ST for years (under previous brands) and remains one of the core pillars of the company’s product line.
- Key Feature: Symmetrical clamping units with a closed-frame design.
- Dual vertical cylinders on each side of the clamping unit (in most models) for optimal distribution of clamping force on long molds.
- Clamping force up to 3600 kN for molds with heights of up to 3 meters.
- Multilayer co-extrusion technology with the ISIT series: High-efficiency adiabatic extruders and accumulator heads with overlapping heart-shaped melt distributors, suitable for a wide range of plastic materials.
- Variable-speed hydraulic pumps and advanced control software to minimize energy consumption.
- Energy Class 10 rating (less than 0.29 kWh/kg HDPE) for most models.
